Both camps take place on the same days (June 15-18), giving the option for a full day camp (9 am-4 pm) when you book BOTH camps. Dates: Monday through Thursday, June 15-18 Location: Music Room Time: 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm (Note: If you also book "STRUMwhere Over The Rainbow," the extra hour between the two sessions, 1 pm-2 pm is FREE. Your child would attend from 9 am-4 pm each day with no extra charge for the extra hour) Camp Description: America is turning 25O YEARS OLD this summer, and what better way to celebrate this special historical milestone than with a summer camp that immerses kids in the wonderful music, arts, and history of our great nation! Each daily session will include fun activities in all the following categories: -Patriotic Music: We will learn to sing the popular, traditional patriotic songs, including the "Star Spangled Banner." We'll untangle this notoriously challenging tune, making the melody, rhythm, and lyrics relatable and easy for children to understand. We will also play various patriotic-themed rhythm and melody games, using many different instruments to create patriotic rhythm bands. It's all of your child's favorite activities from music class, but with an energizing, patriotic twist! History: We will explore the Smithsonian's virtual online exhibit to learn how the anthem was written, see how the original flag was restored, and have a blast playing fun games designed to highlight interesting facts about the flag and its historical significance. Arts and Acts of Service: Each session features a different USA-themed arts activity, as well as an opportunity to give back to those who are serving our country. Design thank you cards to be given out to servicemen through our local USO Center, located within the Charlotte Douglas airport. Take home a completed art project each day, too... get excited to decorate a wooden keepsake liberty bell, make a flag-shaped pillow, paint a patriotic picture on canvas board, and more. All materials included! Simply pack a water bottle and snack.
