*This workshop is reserved for K-5 boys and girls attending Marvin Elementary School *This is a single session event. It is a great workshop for students who attended last month's Halloween songwriting workshop also for those that didn't. Those who attended the October session will find this session to be a great opportunity for expanded practice with a new theme! Date: Thursday, November 5th, 2026 Time: After school until 3:30 pm Location: Music Room at Marvin Elementary School Audience: K-5, boys and girls Workshop Description: Kids want to write their own melodies, but where do they start? The songwriting process can be overwhelming, but not with the process I have designed and will teach the kids! In this workshop, we'll take the mystery out of songwriting. Students will learn how to compose their own songs, (rhythm and melody) through a process-oriented series of fun, non-intimidating, and manageable steps. They will have access to pitched percussion instruments, as well as Thanksgiving-themed note and lyric manipulatives, to help them explore their ideas and organize their thinking. After creating a song, practice playing and singing it. Simply pack a snack and water bottle. All other materials are included.
